A coalition of both men and women, Women in Trucking encourages women to seek careers in all areas of the trucking industry, which has tended to be predominantly male. But since 2007, WIT has been changing that– one dispatcher, driver, and safety director at a time! WIT not only connects women with the career opportunities they deserve, but empowers them by promoting their accomplishments and creating scholarship funds for professional development. Another integral part of WIT’s mission is removing the obstacles that many women face in the industry. One of the obstacles they seek to dismantle is the commonly held misconception that women are not “strong” enough to be part of the trucking industry.
