Only Hours Left To File Form 2290

Today is the deadline to file your Form 2290 for Heavy Vehicle Use Tax.  The IRS will be shutting down at 1PM EST for their scheduled maintenance and will not be back up until noon on September 4, 2012.  Due to the scheduled maintenance, the IRS has extended the E-File deadline to September 7, 2012.

If you miss the 1PM cutoff today, still go to and file your return.  You will still want to click on the ‘Transmit Return to IRS’ button, but the IRS will not actually process your return until they resume operations on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.  If it is after 1PM, you can expect to receive your Stamped Schedule 1 back on Tuesday September 4, 2012.

If you are paper filing the return still must be postmarked by today, August 31, 2012 to avoid IRS penalties and interest.

Although the deadline has been extended, we encourage you to get your returns filed now. If you have any questions, please contact us at our US based customer support center in Rock Hill, SC at 704-234-6005 during our extended customer support hours of 8AM-11.30PM EST or email us at
